Maikel is the founder, key visionary and technical superstar of Ethical Mail. Maikel strongly values efficient technology which operates seamlessly, without compromising ethics or privacy. After moving from Germany to Australia, Maikel found there was no Australian-based email provider which matched his standards of ethics, privacy, speed and functionality, so he was inspired to create a new service.
Together with support from his peers, Ethical Mail Association Inc was born in 2016. As Ethical Mail’s President, Maikel leads the vision and strategy for the organisation and contributes his wealth of knowledge in computer science and software development to ensure Ethical Mail is as functional as it is ethical. In his spare time, Maikel loves to play capoeira, go for bush walks and tend to his 1 acre permaculture garden project in central Victoria.
With a background in marketing, Karla oversees Ethical Mail communications and as Vice President, supports Maikel and the team implement the Ethical Mail vision.
Karla’s main occupation is founder and naturopath of Balanced Whole, based in central Victoria. Passionate about how positive food and lifestyle habits form the basis of good health, Karla supports clients to regain a healthy balance in body and mind. Karla also offers seasonal workshops, webinars and educational talks to local businesses.
Karla’s passion for health extends to the health of the planet and so she is motivated to support the Ethical Mail vision of providing technology with a conscience. Outside of work, Karla loves cooking (especially baking), cuddling her pets, drinking tea, practising yoga and playing piano.
Tamara is a community psychologist, passionate about working towards social justice and supporting community level change. While chatting with Maikel about his concept for Ethical Mail after a stand-up comedy gig, Tamara became enthusiastic about the opportunity to create a private and secure ethical option for Australian email users. Tamara is Treasurer of the Ethical Mail Association, works full-time in the child and family sector and also runs her own business, Looking Glass Psychology.
Ellie is our efficient Secretary, in charge of Ethical Mail administration and organisation. Ellie describes herself as technical layperson, and as such contributes invaluable perspectives at every meeting. Ellie also tests out technical processes and user guides to ensure they make sense, even to people lacking confidence with technology. Ellie is an avid reader, enjoys bush walks, playing ‘two ball’ and laughing with friends.
